The 2007 Mistura is our attempt to make a 'Super Tuscan'. This was a result of an on-the spot experiment during Spring Barrel Tasting 2009 when I mixed a sample of the 07 Sangio with some 07 Cabernet for a small group of customers. we all loved the result, and before I knew it we had people ordering futures of a 'Super Tuscan' that did not even exist. We decided to go ahead and make a small batch of the blend for our bottling. It has already become a favorite among our staff as we do bi-weekly tastings of the new releases to see how they develop in the bottle as they go through what is known as 'bottle shock'. This is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet. The Cabernet adds structure and backbone with stronger tannins to the more fruity Sangio, and the result is a well structured wine with lots of fruit. The Sangio is still king in this blend, but the Cab makes it a very versatile wine that will go well with a wide variety of foods. As with all other Tasawik wines, it also has very smooth tannins and can therefore be enjoyed by itself as well. At 64 cases total production, this one will not last very long, so get yours while you can.
