During our blending trials, 4 barrels stood out as better on the nose, mouthfeel, and finish, and we put them aside for a special blend. They were 2 barrels of Cab and 2 barrels of Merlot. We tried different combinations, and ended up liking the 50/50 blend the best. Next we played around with a small amount of Cab Franc, and ended up adding 2.6% Cab Franc from Alder Ridge vineyards in the final blend. This became our Reserve, a well-structured Bordeaux-style blend featuring harmonious tannins. Great nose, good proportion of berries, cherries, and oak, great balance. Long finish.
